Nestled away on the quiet corner of 10th & Quebec Street is The Federal Store. This corner, once bland and rather depressing, has evolved into a vibrant, and inviting luncheonette & grocer to meet up with friends or a spot to go with ~ yourself.
The Federal Store is a celebration of what is humble, honest, warm and unpretentious. Colette, Chris, Cole and all their staff have made a space where people can meet, share comforting food, such as their creamy tomato soup, and great coffees in a welcoming environment.
The decor is a mix of rustic tables, lots of potted plants, many of which are for sale, outdoor wood planter boxes and seating, a polished impressive coffee machine that works non-stop from opening to closing and whimsical 3D flooring.
City Beet Farm as well as local artisans selling everything from jewelry, clothes, pottery and soaps, have all shared the cafe space alongside customers drinking beverages and consuming their fabulous avocado toast, which in my opinion, is the best in the city.
The value they have added to the Mount Pleasant community keeps expanding as they evolve and develop ~ which in turn has created value to our lives and theirs too. In this way, we need each other. No one creates a good life alone and only through each other can we live, breathe and enjoy a higher quality of life.
